Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels

Hi lovelies! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far! Mine has definitely been a whirlwind, but in a good way. With yesterday being election day here in the U.S. I have been absolutely crazed at work for weeks, but loving it! I have just adored being in a real newsroom and feeling the slightly tense, but certainly excited, atmosphere that inevitably occurs before major elections. However, I can't say that I am sad that election season is over, especially after yesterday's crazy work hours! In order to keep me from yawning at my desk all day long (or worse, dozing off!), I decided to compile a post of wonderful things that give me energy! Judging by the comments on my last post about things I was loving at the moment, you enjoyed the idea, which I was so glad to see! I certainly enjoyed writing about things that made me smile on that rainy day, and I am now thinking about turning it into a weekly feature, even if the day isn't a particularly hard one to get through. I would love to hear from you ladies what you think of the idea! (The name is a work-in-progress. This is just my favorite line from the lovely song that inspired this idea These are a few of my favorite things.)
1. The Starbucks Christmas line has returned! My close friends and family know the quickest way to my heart- this magical red cup! (Ever notice that a lot of good things come in red: Christmas line, louboutins....I'm just saying) I literally squealed for excitement when I saw all over twitter a few days ago that my beloved winter holiday drink, the peppermint mocha, was back. It is like heaven in your mouth! And after yesterday's 19 hour work day and running on only 4 hours sleep this morning, a stop at Starbucks to reacquaint myself with my old friend was an absolute necessity! You can bet your bottom dollar that many a morning will start off right now that this instant pick-me-up is once again available :)

2. Sometimes you just need a little glitz and glam in your life to spice things up, and the addition of these polishes to my collection was just the trick! I told you in my last "what i love" post that I was majorly on the hunt for Orly's space cadet and thanks to the suggestion of the darling Cafe Fashionista to look on eBay, I was finally able to snag a bottle! I am anxiously awaiting its arrival and I will be sure to update you on my satisfaction once it is securely in place on my desperately-in-need-of-a polishing tips.
3. Remember as a child when you had the chicken pox and your mom ordered you not to itch the pesky little pox, for fear that you would scar your gorgeous little self, but it only made you want to scratch 10 times more?  Ever since I decided to try and get my shoe addiction under control by limiting my purchases I have been just dying to scratch the itch! Well... I did :) Ladies, I was having total cravings for this oxford-wedge and when it went on sale for $50 off retail price at Ideeli, I didn't have the strength to resist any longer! The site seems to take an unusually long time to ship orders so I have been rather impatiently waiting for several weeks now for their arrival, but the good news it has given me lots of time to plan outfits!
4.Confession: Ever since my mom bought a cashmere sweater for the fashionista mommy (whose style I have always admired since we met when I was 13!) I have thought that cashmere was the creme de la creme! I thought she was the most fashionable person ever, therefore if this sweater was something she really wanted it must be the epitome of cool. Certain things just stick with you from when you were younger and this is clearly one of them that has for me. I have continued to drool over the luxurious fabric for years, but always admiring from afar for fear that near proximity to the beauty would prove too great a temptation and my student budget just couldn't swing it. But, now that I am in the "real world" it seemed a very grown-up thing to own, so when this pink BCBG number went on sale at Rue La La I decided to finally add a little cashmere to my closet.
5. With the severe change in weather we have been experiencing (I am talking 70-45 in a week!), it is no surprise that all I can think about is cozy knits these days! All I want to do is bundle up in comfy, chunky sweaters and cardigans, curl up by the fire with my mags  and drink hot chocolate all day long! Maybe even at a ski lodge with friends?? I'll skip the actual skiing part, since it terrifies me and just enjoy my own personal bundled up bliss.

6. We all know that not every trend is right for us individually, but have you ever had a trend that you really WANTED to make work on you and just couldn't seem to? For me that would be the layered look. Every time I try to layer anything I just wound up looking bulky and not at all chic. I tried to study how other bloggers with a smiliar body type pulled it off, and after many failed pairings in my room, I think I finally found a layered outfit that I liked on me! Expect an outfit post this weekend, but I just had to share my exciting success story with you early! Don't you just love when blogging helps you to experience new things and add variety to your style?

Oh, for anyone who has been on the search for fabulous fall/winter jackets, as I am, head over to Hautelook before Friday at 8 AM PT and check out the gorgeous outerwear CoffeeShop & LatteBLACK is offering, with many options under $100!

Bisous!
